PHILOSOPHY

Fashion is an ever changing face, no more so than today. Sarah Janks was born of a desire to offer accessible luxury apparel and eschew the hype and fast, faddish, disposable side of fashion and dress women in a modern yet classically elegant fashion, a house that would still be relevant many years from now.

Persistence, patience, perfectionism all embody the qualities we aspire to bring to the company, and to execute each design to the best of our ability, to create a keepsake that one day might become an archive for future generations of women to wear.

THE COMPANY

Sarah launched her bridal collection late 2011, and in the USA in 2012. By 2015 the label had grown to stock 28 stores worldwide, with a flagship store in Sydney, Australia and company offices in Los Angeles and New York. Unsatisfied with the values in the traditional bridal business, Sarah shelved her plans and pivoted to offer only made to measure gowns, in line with her values embracing sustainable, zero waste business practices.

SLOW FASHION ENGINEERED

A juxtaposition of old design inspiration executed using modern techniques underlies the brand’s handwriting. Soft and delicate in fabric and detail yet clean and unfussy lines, slim silhouettes and a truly modern interpretation of the wedding dress, Sarah Janks dresses are distinctive in their look and feel, each collection being another chapter in the same, timeless classic story.

THE FOUNDER

A pattern maker and designer by trade, Sarah spent 20 years honing her skills in some of the top design houses in worldwide, including Roland Mouret, Jenny Packham and Jonathan Saunders. She sought diverse experience, working for mainstream giants such as All Saints and COS and saw through a stint as a bespoke tailoring apprentice in London with Prince William and Prince Harry's tailors Kashket and Partners. As a rare and dying breed in the fashion industry, Sarah’s extensive knowledge of both design and construction and it shows in the quality of cut and finish the brand displays, she draws on an extensive creative and technical backgound to realize her seasonal collections.
